My name is Tyler Ratcliffe, and I’m a current joint Director of Platypus Peak Studios. I am eager to learn new game design techniques and an interest in improving my 3D and 2D artistic skills.

Who am I?

I have experience using Unity and 3D modelling software such as Blender, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Photoshop and GitHub Version Control.

I recently created a small team to work under the company name Platypus Peak, and we released Fenced In onto the Play Store and App Store in December of 2020.

Currently, I am working on a new project titled Skiers Landing, and we're in the stage of Production.

Current and Previous Work

Skiers Landing - Current Project (Platypus Peak)

Skiers Landing is the current project that I'm working on. We're currently in the Production Stage of development.

The level design is challenging as the player has several alternative paths to travel down the mountain for the quickest time. The models and animations are created by me, with the game using stylised style assets to help bring attention to specific level elements and points of interest throughout the levels.


Fenced In - Released on IOS and Android 2020 (Platypus Peak)

My Design Choices on Fenced In

Fenced In is a project that I have recently finished work on at Platypus Peak; the game was created with four other team members. I am the Designer/Artist on the project where the player separates individual animals into sections, utilising different fences that have different results depending on the goals that the player want to reach.

Elixir Mixer (AIE)

Elixir Mixer was a group project that myself and six others worked on in our final year at AIE. The player is a Potion maker in a fantasy setting in the wild west, aiming to make potions for customers as quickly as possible in a short period. The player wants to get as many correct orders to each customer to get the highest scoreboard score. 

My role was the Producer on the team, I worked on maintaining scope, clear communication and schedule across all disciplines so that the whole team knew where we were throughout production.

Xmas Ceasefire (AIE)

This was a project that was designed to show a historical event for a ‘client’. We chose the Christmas truce from 1914 during the Great War, and I had the task of Programming the Shooting mechanics and the AI to attack each other and the player.

Blender Modeling

I use Blender 2.8 for my work. I also use Zbrush, 3D Coat, Substance Painter and Photoshop for the work that I create in my projects. The pieces above I made inside Blender with the lightsaber being the result of a tutorial. In contrast, the Blaster I used a reference I found on the internet, is a Pistol from the new Star Wars TV show The Mandalorian.

 

Kamikaze Mutant Explosion ‘Game Jam’

Kamikaze Mutant Explosion was a Game Jam project set over three days. Our task was creating a game based on three random words given to us. We worked hard over two days to make this, and the result was perfect for the short amount of time the six of us had on the project. For the project, we had 1 Producer, 1 Designer,3 Artists and 1 Programmer.
